A tough battle

Malys had a good victory this week which propelled them into a playoff spot.  A spot where I didn’t know if Maly’s would have at the beginning of the season in a much tough division.  Maly’s won a hard fought 5-3 victory on Wednesday night, and I had a pretty good game considering I let in a weak goal at the end to give them a chance to come back.  My butterfly just doesn’t seem to work as fast as I want it to sometimes.

Marketlab lost a tough hard fought battle tonight to the 1st place Puckups by a 4-3 final.  We had a 3-0 lead at the start, but the Puckups flexed their muscle in the 2nd and 3rd periods and came away with the win.  It was another loss we have had by only 1 goal, which has been the story so far this season for us.  Either we win decisively or we lose barely.  With 3 games to go, we can still finish as far up as 2nd which is what I am aiming for.

Overall, I was pleased with my performance this week.  I still have ice hockey next week, but I am confident that things are going to go well for us tomorrow.

In the meantime, I am just trying to stay positive.  Marketlab and Maly’s have legit shots to do something special come playoff time.  It just depends on how fortunate we are when the playoffs hit.  Tonight, Marketlab just couldn’t find the back of the net in the 2nd and 3rd periods.  They had great chances but just fired it wide, high of the net, and just missed on their chances.  I would much rather have them miss now than miss come Saturday playoffs.

The bi-monthly update

I didn’t want this blog to turn into a bi-monthly update, but here it is.

I will get the hockey stuff out of the way first.  Marketlab is sitting in a playoff spot right now while Malys is fighting just to get into the playoffs.  I have been quite proud of Marketlab the last few games, but the game this week will be the key game of the season as we take on the first place team.  Maly’s has been struggling in a higher division that has really started to show that they belong in a lower division.  I guess we will see how it all ends.  With 4 games to go, I am hoping we can slip into the playoffs.

Ice hockey has also been good to me, even though I only played one game.  I won my first ice hockey game of the season, and then we won our game last week with our sub in net.  Its a good start to the season overall.

Finally, with me passing my ice hockey refereeing certification, I am looking forward to getting some games in the next month or so.  It going to be a busy hockey season for me with playing, finishing my MBA class, and reffing.  Of course, I have my day job as well to think about.
