Fun stuff!

Top thing on the fun-o-meter is my computer croaking out on me last night. Darn thing just decided to start acting up to the point where I couldn’t even open IE. No spyware or malware was detected on multiple scans. I think it was a corrupted registry, but I even tried doing full repairs with no luck. Fortunately, I did a complete reinstall and that worked like a champ! The problem is that I spent ALL night on that last night and I have more work to do on it when I reinstall everything back on it today. I haven’t done this in over 2 years to this system, so maybe it was about time with all the software I put on and remove from this system. It was about time for a full reinstall.

My wife’s car was totaled in an accident, so she has been looking for a new car. Good thing is that it wasn’t her fault, and there was a witness so no high premiums for us. Still, it sucks cause now she is doing some serious car shopping. Driving from one dealership to another doing test drives. She is using a rental, and then a spare car my parents have later this week so she isn’t in a rush. But it still sucks.

My rollerhockey team got their asses handed to them on Tuesday. Their team played so much better than us it was unbelievable. Then, an hour after getting spanked, I went to my ice hockey game expecting another spanking by the top team in the division. We won one game this season and it was starting to upset everyone on the team that we didn’t have any goal scoring power. Well, I brought a couple friends to the game and we ended up winning 8-7. These two guys scored all the goals, but they are snipers thats for sure. I wasn’t expecting that much of a dominating performance to be honest. I thought if we lost 10-4, I would be happy. Instead, we upset the top ranked team and now everyone on the team seems to be much more excited about playing next week. I just hope that everyone on this team works well together the rest of the season.

Tonight I want to finish reinstalling my computer and then skate out from 10-11pm.

What a blah weekend sports wise

Let me get the final tally here….

Ferris State couldn’t win a hockey game all weekend.
Michigan got beat by Ohio State in football, but it was the best game I have seen in a long time.
Red Wings dropped one game on Friday night and lost in OT on Saturday night. Hey, they did get a point!
Lions lost. Wait, if they won would that have made the weekend better? Probably not.

All in all, a fun weekend to spend with family and friends. I just wish the scores turned out a little better for the teams I was rooting for.

So, I went to see Bob Seger last night…

First time he has toured in over 10 years and I got tickets to see him opening night. Man, that was a blast! Great musical artist and a great show. I don’t know how good he was back in his hey-day, but last night he was super. I think his concert and the Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young concerts were the best I have seen in a long time. My ears are still ringing from the concert, but I enjoyed it very much!

After my Builders creamed the house team on Tuesday, we have a tough test next week when we play the Fury. I wouldn’t have to say I am looking forward to that game, but I do wonder how well I will play after I sucked pretty bad the last time I played them. Tonight I skate out for the first time in a couple weeks. Tomorrow I have a game with Malys to complete my first full week of hockey. Its been a great week so far.

Its been over 2 weeks now…

My two fingers that I bruised up pretty badly have healed, but I can still see some damage to the nails themselves. I know they will take a while for the nails to grow out enough so I can clean out from underneath them, but it is still bad to look at. Its just amazing how slow these things heal up, in comparison to the mouth where that heals VERY fast. I got some teeth drilled on last week, and the wounds I took from the shots of novicane I got healed up fast.

Its also been over two weeks since I lifted my 14th championship trophy on Saturday. Its also been that long since I failed to bring my other teams to that kind of conclusion. This season will be another tough one, but fun at the same time. I am going to look forward to the challenges that are in front of me for the next 3 months. Hopefully, come the end of January, I will be lifting a trophy or two again.

My journey starts tonight when the Builders play the house team. I am looking forward to it.

Gotta love beginner league

Last night I played with my beginner team and was anticipating a very good game. The team we played was one that we had beaten before. In fact, it was the only team we beat and that was a 3-1 score. We were missing one of our best players, but I still thought it might be close. I chatted with the other goalie before the game started and he said he picked up a “few recruits”. Well, a few new recruits he wasn’t kidding around. These players skated circles around our guys, cycled the puck, and really just shelled me all game. I let in some bad goals, made some good saves, and got a workout. The problem was at the end of the second period, after facing so many chances and shots, I just lost interest in the game. It was the first time in a long time that I actually just gave up and didn’t care. Of course, that didn’t stop the other team from just pumping more and more shots on me. They had more goals than we had shots the entire game. The scoreboard stopped at 11-1, but they had a lot more than that when the game ended. I don’t know why they stopped keeping score, other than maybe to not deflate us anymore.

My beginner team needs some skill badly. After that game last night, I just felt rundown and down on myself for quitting. Today I feel the same way. I have always told my teams to never give up no matter what the score is. I did it myself last night which isn’t a great thing to do when you are trying to motivate your team or show them the way.

I don’t play ice next week due to a concert I am going to so maybe thats for the best. I need a week off to recharge my batteries after last game. I know winning isn’t everything, but dammit it sure would be nice to have a couple skilled players to give me a chance to work out there and keep a team in the game. I wouldn’t have to say I didn’t have fun, but I would have a lot more fun if my team was at least competitive.

After a nice break

I played ice hockey last night for the Kodiaks against the other undefeated team in my division and we won 6-2. The only goal I was disappointed about was a shot from the top of the left faceoff circle that hit my stick, went up in the air, dropped behind me, and rolled into the net. The other goal was a weak side one timer that beat me just before I could slide over. I really missed the defense that they played in front of me. Especially considering my team that I am playing for tonight won’t give me as much help on defense. Oh well, I will take what I can tonight.

Tonight is my last game this week. Next week I start playing rollerhockey again 2-3 nights a week in addition to my ice hockey. I am looking forward to it to be honest.
