Minor Disappointment

After my game tonight….the title says it all.

11/17/03 – Vipers vrs White Tigers

Let me say the difference in the game was the goaltending. The goalie for the Vipers played a very solid game. I on the other hand played a good game, but there were a couple goals I want back.

1 – The one goal I couldn’t stop and it was a nice one. A pass across the slot to a wide open forward for the tip into the open net.

2 – Here is one of the goals I want back, but I am not that upset about it. It was an excellent shot and I wasn’t out far enough to take the angle. The shot came from the top of the faceoff circle. I didn’t even get a piece of this shot. Afterwards, I told my defenseman it wasn’t his fault and that I have to be responsible to take those shots if the dman doesn’t block it.

3 – Another goal that I should have stopped. A shot in the slot that I went down to stop, but it slipped under my pad and in. I lost sight of the shot so that didn’t help matters.

The other goaltender didn’t let one of those long shots by. That is why I say it was a goaltenders battle. I came in second in the battle tonight. There are still 7 more games in the war.

  1. brian…jeff/vipers goalie here… i thought you played one hell of a game last night….i personally think you outplayed me in every aspect…you faced a ton more shots and many quality shots…for the goals you mentioned you want back..for every one of those you made several big saves i think..although i like a low goals against..my thoughts are that if you make saves at the right time and give your team a chance to win..then you did your job..and you definetly did that last night…great game!!!

  2. Thanks Jeff! 🙂

I was going to put another entry in this morning but I haven’t yet. Usually, after I sleep on it and think about things, I have a few more things to add to a game like yesterday. Thanks for puting things in perspective for me! 🙂
